Norris Edges Out Piastri in Sao Paulo Practice
The British driver has outscored his teammate at each of the last five race weekends.
The McLaren driver edged out team-mate and championship contender Oscar Piastri for the quickest lap in the closing stages of practice at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix.
Norris, who took the championship lead from Piastri by one point after his victory in Mexico City a fortnight back, beat the Australian by a tiny margin of 0.023secs.
Earlier in the session, Piastri had been the quickest of the McLaren pair during the running before the sprint shootout set to begin at 18:30 GMT.
The Red Bull star, the other racer in realistic title contention, trailing 36 points Norris, ended up in P17 as his team ran a different programme.
Verstappen's team-mate Yuki Tsunoda was the only driver to have an incident, albeit lightly, when he rotated at corner four soon after starting.
The Japanese lost control over the curbs on exit before rotating through the gravel trap, and was lucky to get away with just a light touch of the barrier.
The Ferrari of the seven-time champion also had a spin, at the final moments of the session, spinning around through the fast downhill Mergulho corner leading to the last turn on to the pit straight.
Hamilton ended the session in P19, one place behind team-mate Charles Leclerc.
The McLaren drivers were well clear of the other competitors, with Nico Hulkenberg's Sauber third fastest, 0.619 seconds off Piastri's best.
Aston Martin's the Spanish driver was fourth fastest, with Sauber's Bortoleto fifth from the Mercedes of George Russell and the Alpine of Pierre Gasly and the Williams of Carlos Sainz.
